101 Winter Book Review Writing
Book Name: The Tempest, Author: William Shakespeare,
Total page number: 45 pages, Level: Pre-Intermediate
The Tempest is one of the popular plays by Shakespeare. It is believed to be written in 1610-11. Many people think it is the last play that Shakespeare wrote alone. It was set on a remote island, where Prospero, the right Duke of Milan, planned to restore his daughter Miranda to her original place. He conjured up a storm to let his brother Antonio, who had stolen the Duke position from Prospero, and the King Alonso of Naples, who helped Antonio, to the island. After a series of occasions, they became friends again. Miranda even fell in love with Alonso’s son, Prince Ferdinand, and
would marry him. I love this story. The magic power is attractive. I used to want to have it. One more thing is the ending of The Tempest is such a good one. I like this kind of stories. On the other hand, I admire Prospero’s strong mind.
Even though he was down when his brother betrayed him, Prospero never gave up. He waited and prepared, and the success came to him. I also like the head of the fairies, Ariel. He was interesting. His actions made this story more
colorful. By the way, the author was so great a writer. Shakespeare’s words were beautiful. It is said, “Would rather not have one hundred India, but cannot live without Shakespeare.” I agree with it. Read The Tempest, and you will have
the nicest feeling.
