Internship Report and Reflection
Through this 6-month internship, I have learnt a lot about how to handle many different and unexpected problems which I would not be able to experience in class. Working as a kindergarten teacher is not as easy as it seems. There are a lot of things I should pay attention to. Each of the student has their own personalities and characteristics, preferences and priorities. Communicating and handling their mood swings everyday has trained me to be more sensitive to fully understand every of their needs. At first, it was extremely hard for an amateur teacher like me to be active, lively, passionate, and to communicate well with the children, especially when I need to explain something in Mandarin. However, as time passed by, I have started to feel more comfortable to help the children and make them happy studying at school.
That feeling of joy arouse when I could satisfy their expectations and needs without hurting the other kids' feeling. This working experience has taught me plenty of working skills and attitudes; to be punctual, able to communicate well with other teachers and supervisors, to listen to others' feedback, to handle and solve the problems, to be opened to criticism, to be confident and be brave to speak up my mind. I am grateful for this opportunity because along with this phase I could also cut out my bad habits and able to develop into more mature and competent personality which will be usefull for my future career life. What more important and valuable point from this internship is that I am now able to decide which path of dream I would like to go, I know and understand much better about myself, what my passion is, what I am good at, and what I would like to be in the future.
