personal profile
I come from a family of four, my mom, my dad and my older brother. My parents met when they went to university in France in their 20s. My brother and I are both born and raised in Paris. Before we moved to Kaohsiung, Taiwan when I was 11, my parents had stayed in France for 20 years. French and Chinese are both my native languages. In France, we used to speak Chinese at home and French at school. My father is an artist, and he often has his own art exhibitions. My mom is a housekeeper and she spends all of her time taking care of us. My brother is also a student in Wenzao and he is about to graduate. We all live together and we are close to each other.
hobby
I have tried many activities in my free time, and I even took courses such as german, ballet and piano. However the one hobby that I truly love is not like any of these courses. It is traveling, to visit a new city or country. Ever since I was a baby, my parents used to take me wherever they go. It was easy to travel to nearby countries since we lived in France. Before moving to Taiwan, I had already visited most of the european countries. Everytime I travel, it is a different feeling. I always grow so much by seeing the culture, the lifestyle and especially different kinds of people. Whenever I have free time, a weekend or a vacation, my parents encourage me to see the world by visiting new places. Traveling is a huge and important part in my life because I am able to refresh my mind and find myself again.
introduce myself
My name is Lea Lu. I am 18 years old and currently studying in Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages. I major in English and minor in French. The reason why I chose Wenzao is because I relate so much to languages since I can speak fluently in both Chinese and French since I was a child. English is also my strength. By traveling to foreign countries and attending summer camps in Canada and the United Kingdom during summer vacations, I have learned to communicate with foreigners naturally and comfortably. I scored 89 on my TOEFL iBT test. Language is for sure something that I am interested in. For me, learning a new language is opening doors to more opportunities and possibilities. Language is the foundations for thinking, visions and attitude. Another field that I am passionate about is art. My father used to take us to art exibition, galleries and museums in our free time. Since he is a artist painter, I watch him paint at home all the time. Although I cannot paint, I still feel like having a connection with art and profoundly inspired when I see an artwork.
future
This year, I would like to be an exchange student in Milan, Italy. I have always been interested in this particular country and I hope to learn more about its culture. When I come back, I will finish school and graduate from Wenzao. After that, I would like to go to a university in France and hopefully getting a master degree in the art field. In the future, I hope to work in the art circle and open an art gallery. Although I have my father supporting and helping me by his experiences in this field, I would still like to try and explore by myself.

1. I wish that I can learn different cultures by studying abroad, be familiar with their lifestyle, ways of talking and doing things and share my own culture with others.
2. Improve my social skills and communicate comfortably in English with people from all around the world.
3. Since Milan is the center of art, fashion and history, I would like to enrich my knowledge and get inspired by going to museums or galleries.
4. Be able to live independently for the first time by being away from home for half a year, and improve my ability of handling problems and difficulties on my own.

Preparation before going to a foreign school

To go study abroad, I have to make sure that I can communicate with people. I have been learning English in different ways. Besides taking English classes in school, I read a lot of articles on the internet, watch documentaries and movies in my spare time and chat online in English with my foreigner friends that I met during summer schools abroad. Those ways really have assisted me in improving my language skills in the daily life, whether it is reading, listening, writing or speaking. I took my TOEFL iBT test and scored 89. I also asked some exchange students who came back from abroad about their life and experiences to get prepared for situations that I might face.

Plans for studying in a foreign school (Fields/Curriculum)

I would like to choose classes that I am not so familiar with, not only to extend my knowledge but also to challenge myself. Since my time exchanging abroad is very limited, I do feel the importance to hold every opportunities, explore other fields, and step out of my comfort zone. I would also like to make friends that have diverse backgrounds, and I believe that their stories will influence me directly or indirectly.
返國後計畫
After returning back home, I will sure be filled with lots of stories, knowledges and experiences. I would like to put them into practice in the daily life and also let it influence my plans for my future carrier. In addition, I want to share my journey with people and hopefully to let them also have the desire to go out and see the world. I will also start preparing my French test, DELF B2, and searching for universities in France that are available for me to go after I graduate from Wenzao.
未來期許
Being an exchange student has always been my dream and one of the reasons why I chose to study in Wenzao. I hope that I can use this period of time of my life to learn and travel as much as I can. I hope that when I recall this experience, I will not regret about anything that I did not do. It will be a long journey, but no matter how challenging it might be, I will cherish it in all ways.
